Jessica as Daisy Duke Picture Info and Weird Pantyhose Discussion

OK, the link below will take you to a picture of Jessica as Daisy Duke wearing a bikini top, short-shorts and boots next to a Jeep. You have probably already seen the photo, so don't go jumping to the link so fast you get whiplash!

I include it here because the page provides some links to other photos and a brief conversation that covers a Dukes of Hazzard-related thing I found odd.

First, there some obligatory jibber-jabber about whether or not the confederate battle flag is gonna be on the General Lee (it is). But peppered throughout the posts are comments about something decidedly different.

Apparently, some people really really really liked Catherine Bach as Daisy Duke. Not because of her acting gifts, the fun role, or even the famous short Daisy Duke shorts, but because of high heels and pantyhose.

I had no idea this was an attractive combination with denim shorts and certainly didn't know it was the stuff of which some guys' dreams are made. But, apparently, it is.

This excerpt sums up the weirdness nicely:

"DAISY'S SEXY NYLON CLAD LEGS KEPT ME TUNING IN FOR YEARS. THAT WAS THE BEST PART OF THE SHOW. I'M SICK & TIRED OF BORING LOOKING, CLAMMY WHITE GAMS. BRING OUT THE HOSIERY AND BRING ON THE RATINGS!!!"

There are more guys involved in the discussion that feel the same way. Some of them know better than to keep the caps lock key on, too.

If you are interested in looking at the spot where the Dukes of Hazzard and a pantyhose fetish meet, follow the link. Be warned, there is some not-so-family-friendly language in some of the posts as both Daisy Duke and race issues are mentioned. Proceed at your own risk:

Dukes of Hazzard Movie Trailer?

Some people have asked about this one...

Apparently, Warner planned on advertising the upcoming Dukes of Hazzard movie during the Super Bowl. As you probably know, that didn't happen.

No word as to why the ad didn't appear.

And the trailer still isn't available.

You can be 100% sure that The Dukes of Hazzard Movie News will report any new info of the trailer and will provide all the best links to see every version of the movie's advertising once it is released.

Until then, we'll just have to be happy with the occasional still from the set and any other news that appears.

Keep your eyes open!

Dukes of Hazzard Song Parody Getting Attention

A Tri-Cities radion station (which I think refers to some cities in the Tennessee/Virgina area) has been getting a lot of attention for a parody song based on The Dukes of Hazard.

The mayor of one of the cities, and his brother have the last name Paduch (apparently pronounced Puh-Duke). The mayor is a controversial figure and the parody song has been getting alot of attention.

You can read more about it here, along with a picture of one of the Paduck brothers in the General Lee (photoshopped, of course).

Johnny Knoxville / Jessica Simpson Affair Gossip Continues

Despite an angry denial from Johnny Knoxville, some sources continue to report that he and Dukes of Hazzard co-star Jessica Simpson "got it on."

After reporting the rumor, a source at iafrica.com (that's right, the continent of Africa seems to be keeping tabs on Dukes stars), does sort of admit the alleged affair's truth is unlikely:

"Johnny is apparently incensed by the rumours. Perhaps because of the way they reflect on his taste in women? I’m going to take a wild guess and say that Nick needn’t lose any sleep over this one. Although, come to think of it, while Johnny-and-Jessica might be an incredibly strange pairing – it really isn’t any more unbelievable than the fact that the seemingly crazy Knoxville is still alive after all the half-brained stuff he’s done."

New Jessica Simpson Daisy Duke Picture

These guys have a gallery of Dukes of Hazzard movie pictures set up. Take it easy, guys, not ALL of them are of Daisy Duke.

However, the newest one is! It features Jessica Simpson in her Daisy Dukes, high heels, and a pink top. Looks like she is doing some waitressing. Oh, and just in case you haven't already clicked on the link below, the photo was sort of taken from behind.

All right, enough of that...

Russians Following Jessica Simpson, Dukes of Hazzard

Interest in the new Dukes of Hazzard movie isn't limited to the south. Or even to the United States. The Russians are on board, too.

A November article online, taken from the Russian paper, Pravda, announces Jessica Simpson "will play countrified hottie Daisy Duke in the big-screen remake of the Dukes of Hazzard" and discusses the film ever-so-briefly.

Way to go, Russia!

Burt Reynolds Role in Dukes of Hazzard a Good Sign

Hey, any time you decide to take an old favorite and reinvent it for the big screen, there are gonna be some people worried that their beloved childhood classic will receive horrible treatment at the hands of Hollywood. The Dukes of Hazzard movie has been no exception.

But for those concerned that the remake will be an embarassment, Burt Reynolds' appearance as Boss Hogg might give them reason to breathe easier.

Apparently, Reynolds agreed to star in the new Dukes movie only after he "was convinced the creators were treating the movie seriously, even faithfully..." Reynolds was apparently a little skeptical when first approached but was won over when he found out was planned for the movie.

According to an article, there was a real effort to make sure "it wasn't campy and not a spoof, but more of an homage to Smokey and the Bandit, Blues Brothers and The Cannonball Run."

Hazzard County Remark Leads to Unemployment Line

Out in California, a planning commissioner named Gabrial Singh got canned only a month after being appointed to the post. Why? Because he referred to Sutter County, CA, as "Hazzard County" while running for office against some of the county supervisors the year before.

Apparently, Singh felt someone in the county's administration was a Boss Hogg clone and that Sutter County felt a lot like Hazzard County. Apparently the comparison made a few of Sutter-Hogg's cronies a bit angry.

Dukes Provided Country Inspiration to Jessica Simpson

In an earlier entry, I noted that Jessica Simpson was angling to perform a duet with Dukes of Hazzard co-star Willie Nelson.

Still no word as to whether a song will appear on the soundrack or on Jessica's next album, but I did find a small article that I thought added an interesting dimension to the whole thing.

The Jessica/Willie combination seems a little less odd when one reads that Jessica Simpson is "really inspired to write some country stuff." She also says "it would be fun to step into the Shania Twain type of direction, just for the movie, just for fun."

According to this article about action figure merchandising for upcoming films, Warner plans to release action figures of the main characters from The Dukes of Hazzard movie.

Not a lot of detail yet, but the article alludes that Bo Duke, Luke Duke, Daisy Duke, Boss Hogg, Uncle Jesse "and the rest of the gang" could be available.

Knoxville Believes Nelson Smoked Pot on Hazzard Production

Johnny Knoxville, soon the be seen as Luke Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard movie, apparently enjoyed his time with co-star (Uncle Jesse) Willie Nelson.

He thinks the redheaded stranger "is the coolest guy on the planet."

He also seems to think Willie Nelson smokes a little pot in his trailer!

Hazzard Movie a Longshot According to Bookmaker

Internet bookmaker Intertops.com is taking bets on which 2005 release will bring in the most money.

The early favorite is Batman Begins, which is at 5 to 4 odds--meaning you'd get paid $5 for every $4 you bet if the movie topped all others (minus the bookmaker's cut, I imagine).

Currently, The Dukes of Hazzard is a longshot at 60 to 1. If you believe the Dukes will be THE money-maker of 2005, you can risk $10 to make $600.

Jessica's Daisy Duke Diet and Exercise Regime

In an interview with Billy Bush from Access Hollywood, taken during production of The Dukes of Hazzard movie, Jessica Simpson discussed her workout and diet strategy for staying in Daisy Duke shape.

She was avoiding sugar as much as possible and putting in a two-hour workout on a daily basis. She told Bush she didn't skip her daily workout regardless of how late production ran into the evening.

The Right-Wingers are Talking About the Dukes Movie

While surfing around for some news on The Dukes of Hazzard, I found this thread at the Free Republic web site.

For the unacquainted, this is a popular online hangout for the politically conservative set.

Somehow a conversation about Jessica Simpson and the Daisy Duke part snuck into their usual political grumblings.

Some of these guys don't know the difference between Barbara Bach and Catherine Bach, and the discussion quickly dissolves into a Brittney vs. Jessica thing, but hey, I got a kick out of it.

Jessica Simpson Gets a Little Hot as Daisy Duke: "I think Jessica looks too...I dunno, manufactured.

Perma-tanned and vacant. And she looks the image of Britney.

One Britney is enough for this world, IMO."

BACH WANTS TO SELL DAISY DUKES, THINKS JESSICA SIMPSON IS SWEET

The Dukes of Hazzard original Daisy Duke, Catherine Bach, is talking to Levi-Strauss about selling Daisy Duke short-shorts.

Bach, unlike another original Dukes of Hazzard cast member, Ben Jones, doesn't seem too upset about the new movie. Regarding her successor, Jessica Simpson, Bach says "She's really sweet."

Simpson Didn't Like Being the Butt of Hazzard Co-Stars' Jokes

According to one gossippy little snippet dated from November of '04, Jessica Simpson was constantly teased about the size of her backside by Seann William Scott and Johnny Knoxville.

Scott and Knoxville compared Jessica's Daisy Dukes with those of Catherine Bach and thought Ms. Simpson's look a little bigger, I guess.

Apparently, she didn't enjoy the jokes.

Nor did she enjoy it when the new Duke brothers hopped out of the General Lee without pants.

Old Cast Worried About New Dukes of Hazzard

I've already provided a couple of entries here about Ben Jones (the original Cooter) and his absolute distaste for the new Dukes movie. If you check back a few days, there are also some comments from John Schneider that seemed a little bit more cautiously optimistic about the movie.

I found another newspaper article on the subject that features a lot of background on the original show (which is getting a lot of press because CMT will be running original Dukes of Hazzard re-runs) and some comments from both Jones and Schneider.

Again, Jones sounds a bit jealous and a lot crazy, in my estimation. He seems to be using the new Dukes movie as a means of expressing his politics a bit. Jones says "there's seriously a gap between the cultural elite and the folks out in the red states, and this is a heartland show. People want these kind of values."

Apparently, Jones is worried that the Dukes have been hi-jacked by the culturally elite and that the updated movie will, for whatever reason, tarnish the reputation of those red-state heroes, Bo and Luke.

Give me a break.

Schneider is said to have concerns that "explicit comedy and suggestive dialogue" will sully the original's reputaion (the article's author's words--not Schneider's).

I think this is a riot. It is a movie based on an old television show, guys. If the movie is great, it won't detract from the old show and might even help it regain some popularity. If the movie is lousy, no one is going to see that as a slap to the face of the old show, and it might even make your twenty-plus year-old effort look better by comparison.

No one is going to confuse the two...

More Jessica Simpson Daisy Duke Photos

Here's another set of pics of Jessica Simpson as Daisy Duke.

According to the source, they were taken during the first week of The Dukes of Hazzard production.

Most of them feature Jessica/Daisy wearing the namesake Daisy Duke shorts as she hangs on/around a Jeep.

Short shorts, cowboy boots and a bikini top. Definitely a fashion statement of some sort!

Enough salivating, boys, here they are:

Surprise Dukes Role for "Simple Man"

Patrick White, who loads sacks of feed and bails of hay for a living in Orange, Texas, was on his way to Houston to visit his mom. He stopped for a soda at a convenience store and ended up with a part in The Dukes of Hazzard.

The store was being used as a closed set for the movie, and production staff thought Patrick looked right for a part they still needed to cast.

That night, Patrick was playing a construction worker in the movie.
